My non professional view would guess that the high fat content of &quot;raw&quot; cows milk might form a layer on top of all food in the stomach, acting like a barrier.

With regard to raw sugar, I have changed from using sugar to using &lt;a href=&quot;http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;Xylitol&lt;/a&gt;, a natural sweetener, that you can get in health shops and online.
I found that it did help.
